DLK Solutions (Data Literacy and Knowledge Solutions) is an impact-driven firm advancing data literacy, digital skills, and evidence-based decision-making across Somalia and East Africa. DLK Solutions supports NGOs, planners, researchers, and development professionals by delivering applied, practice-oriented training programs that translate data into real-world decision support.
DLK Solutions seeks two experienced GIS Coaches to design and deliver a hands-on, practice-driven GIS training program using QGIS, aligned with professional workflows commonly used in NGOs, planning institutions, and development projects.
The training emphasizes real-world datasets, spatial problem-solving, cartographic decision-making, and professional presentation of GIS outputs, rather than theory-heavy instruction. Coaches will mentor participants to independently manage complete GIS projects from data preparation to final map presentation.
Training Overview
- Course Title: Practical GIS and Spatial Data Analysis using QGIS
- Delivery Mode: Live interactive online sessions via Google Meet
- Total Duration: 1 Month
- Live Sessions: 8 sessions (2 sessions per week)
- Session Length: 2 hours per session
- Total Live Instruction: 16 hours

Requirements
- Advanced expertise in GIS tools and software (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar).
- At least 3 years’ professional experience in GIS analysis, mapping, or spatial data management
- Proven experience in adult learning, training design, and delivery.
- Strong understanding of GIS applications in development, humanitarian, or environmental contexts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Studies, IT, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Familiarity with other analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, or GIS) is an added advantage.
Responsibilities
The GIS Coaches will be responsible for:
- Delivering interactive live GIS training sessions aligned with the approved curriculum
- Guiding participants through:
- Spatial data handling and CRS management
- Professional QGIS project structuring
- Thematic mapping and cartographic decision-making
- Spatial analysis for planning and decision support
- Multi-criteria and suitability analysis
- Designing and reviewing practical assignments and real-world problem-solving tasks
- Providing structured feedback on participant submissions
- Coaching participants during the independent GIS capstone project
- Facilitating final project presentations and professional critique
- Ensuring an inclusive, supportive, and engaging online learning environment
